Khumalo wants everyone to be able to use khumalo.co, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard, voice control, magnification or reduced motion.
The standard we work to
We design and test the website against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA, the standard referred to by accessibility laws in many countries, including the European Accessibility Act and EN 301 549, and used in the United States under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
What we have done
- Every page is checked with an automated accessibility test (axe-core) on desktop and phone sizes before it is published.
- Every form, menu, gallery and control can be used with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline.
- Images have text alternatives; decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- Text meets WCAG colour contrast requirements.
- Animation stops or is simplified when your device asks for reduced motion. Films never play sound on their own.
- A "Skip to content" link, clear headings and labelled landmarks on every page.
Known limits
- The 3D model and the scroll-driven studio sequence on the home page are visual experiences. The same information is given in text and still images beside them.
- The short film has music and no spoken words. It never plays on its own, and its content is described in the text next to it.
